In this presentation, Dr. Davelaar will introduce a 3-stage theoretical framework to guide neurofeedback research into understanding the mechanisms underlying successful neurofeedback learning and individual differences therein. Three resulting insights from the framework are addressed in detail: (a) the nature of neurofeedback training, (b) the subjective experience (beyond strategies) associated with training, and (c) the possibility to obtain more neuroclinical information for QEEGs. All areas are still under active research, with further developments fine-tuning current knowledge.
