Silvia Costales

Board Member Spotlight- Silvia Costales

Hi, my name is Silvia Costales, and I am currently one of the “Members-at-Large” on the ISNR Board of Directors. I am a psychotherapist and I added neurofeedback to my practice in 2011. I live in Northern California with my husband and our dog. When I’m not working I enjoy hiking, camping, stand-up paddleboard, travel, and dancing.

To me, helping the field of neurofeedback grow and proliferate is a social justice issue. Neurotherapies are so powerful and transformative and healing. And simultaneously, they are so much more safe and sensible than what is usually offered in their place. People everywhere deserve to have access to neurofeedback and other alternatives to medication or more invasive procedures.

As a member of the board I have discovered that there’s not really any powerful entity or person leading our field. There’s just a collection of revolving chairs, and some friendly volunteers.ย  We’ve got a lot of work to do. I’ve tried to apply my common sense and good will to help create more unity among us in the hopes of strengthening us collectively. We all become more powerful when we stand together.

If you care about neurofeedback like I do, I encourage you to get involved with ISNR (or any other neurofeedback group) and make it your organization. That’s the only way anything ever happens!
