From Dan Williams, ISNR 2017 Conference Chair
Thank you so much for attending the 25th Annual ISNR Conference and Silver Anniversary celebration at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut! In the 25 years ISNR has been having an Annual Conference it has never been anywhere close to the northeast US. We always receive many requests from members and attendees for this area of the country as it is densely populated but have never been able โ until this year – to make it work, mainly because of more expensive room rates and other financial considerations. The organization simply could not afford to hold conferences in popular cities such as Boston, New York City, etc. As a result I am excited to say we had over 100 FIRST TIME ATTENDEES this year! This to me shows that the location and Conference were a tremendous success! Foxwoods proved to be a great host and I must say they presented us with the best Conference food I have ever experienced!
Last year the ISNR Foundations track was extremely well-attended and received an enormous amount of positive feedback. ISNR is very interested in meeting the needs of all of our members, so we listened to your feedback and brought back the Foundations track for the second year. I am glad we did as it proved to be a highlight on the schedule and another success. We will continue to listen and look for ways of making your ISNR Conference experience even better!
In celebration of a historical 25th Anniversary we offered Live Streaming of the Conference for the very first time. It was well-received and ran very smoothly for its inaugural year. We will look at ways to improve it of course and make it part of the options for next year as well.
The following are some suggestions that will ensure you bring the conference experience full circle and share the valuable information you have learned at the 2017 Annual ISNR Conference:
Share your knowledge and present a conference summary to your colleagues, peers, partners, etc. who did not attend with you at Foxwoods. (Next year, bring them with you!)
Work new ideas and practices into your daily routine.
Call, email, tweet, chat or messenger to connect with the friends you made, the people you met and the speakers you listened to. Find them on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. and talk to them. Ask how they have implemented what they have learned from the conference.
Also follow ISNR on Facebook and Twitter.
For every business card you collected, call or send an email as it could lead to some interesting opportunities and partnerships.
Follow through on any promises made during the conference. Come through for anyone you said you would send something to, call on their behalf, make a connection for, etc.
Please complete the Post-Conference Survey you receive in your email inbox as soon as possible. Your feedback helps us make improvements to the conferences accordingly. We do listen but you must submit it to be heard!
Renew your ISNR Membership that expires on December 31, 2017.
Join the ISNR Board of Directors or one of the committees and turn your words into actions.
Register for 2018โs Annual ISNR Conference. Early bird registration will open in spring 2018. Save the date: October, 18-21, 2018 in Glendale, Arizona! Pre-Conference will be held October, 15-17, 2018.
Submit your content for presenting at next yearโs 26th Annual Conference. Look for the Call for Abstracts to open early spring 2018! Abstract submissions are one of the major factors that drive the content and quality of conferences each year, so I urge you to please submit your content to share at the conference.
Of utmost importance is to extend a very special thank you to all of the 25th Annual ISNR Conference Sponsors and Exhibitors! They all made our Silver Anniversary one to remember. This yearโs Sponsors included:
Platinum:
-BrainMaster Technologies
Gold:
-Integrated Neuroscience Services
-Deymed Diagnostics
Silver:
-Bio-Medical Instruments
-Stens Corporation
-Applied Neuroscience Inc.
-Thought Technology Ltd.
-VieLight
-New Mind Technology
This conference would not be possible without each and every one of our Sponsors and Exhibitors and we hope to count on each of their continued support in 2018 and beyond!
I would also like to express my gratitude to the ISNR Board of Directors, Tina Watkins – Conference Director, the Conference Committee, the speakers, our students, and of course all attendees for supporting the organization and for making 2017 such a memorable conference. We hope to see everyone again โ and more of you โ in Glendale, Arizona for 2018 Annual ISNR Conference! I may be biased as I live in Arizona but October is a special month here as the weather will be perfect!
I would also like to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity and privilege to be your ISNR Conference Chair. I have served on the Conference Committee for the past 11 years and held the Chair position for the last five of those years. It has been an amazing experience and, looking back, I would do it again. However, I have new time commitments, ventures, goals and aspirations ahead of me so I have made the decision to step down as ISNR Conference Chair for 2018. It truly has been my honor to serve you and I hope to continue to help the ISNR organization in some capacity in the coming years.
You have heard me say this before so as you know, the ISNR Conference brings you the unique opportunity to interact with the men and women who have dedicated their professional lives to the advancement of the field of Neurofeedback. One way to advance our organization is to increase members and grow the Annual Conference attendance. For the betterment of our field I hope to see you ALL in Glendale, Arizona for the 2018 ISNR Conference!
Warm regards and farewell,
Dan Williams
