The Northeast Region Biofeedback Society, is a non-profit association representing the professional biofeedback practitioners of the northeast region of the United States, which includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. In addition, we welcome members from other states to participate in and contribute to NRBS, which is a regional society of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, Inc.
Biofeedback is a process that enables individuals to learn how to change their physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance. Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart functioning, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. These instruments rapidly and accurately “feed back” information to the user. The presentation of this information, often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior, supports desired physiological changes. Over time, these changes can endure without continued use of an instrument.
