The nature of developmental trauma, born in adverse childhood experiences will be discussed in terms of the measurable effects on the brain. The experience and the behavior of those living with these unresolved histories will be reviewed. Evidence based interventions with the main focus on neurofeedback including specific protocols will be discussed.

Based on the content of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

Participants will be able to name the main groups of causes of developmental trauma and relate the current behavior of their clients to their histories of adverse childhood experiences.

The attendees will be able to relate the impact of trauma on the developing brain to key brain structures and brain networks.

Clinicians will be able to detect sub-conscious defense-reactions and relate those particular survival responses to the arousal of the CNS to be able to intervene appropriately.

Practitioners will be able to formulate the main goals of neurofeedback intervention from an arousal model perspective.

Clinicians will be able to select certain appropriate neurofeedback amplitude training protocols and evaluate the short-term effects of those training protocols on the CNS.
